It's easy to focus, it's hard to stay focused, but it's much more difficult to realign with what's most important.
In the world we live, there are many distractions, politics, relationships, money, and numerous other things which cause us to loose sight of what is really important. This year has been full of those challenges. Churches have been closed for long periods of time, and everything is virtual. It's a challenging time for everyone.
If we're being honest, most of us have put our energy elsewhere. We have put our focus on other things that are much less important than our relationship with God.
Church, it's time to refocus our efforts. It's time to reach out to those who are struggling spiritual and lift them up. It's time to build relationships with one another that are stronger than ever. It's time to show the world who we are, followers of Jesus. Loving, gracious, merciful, caring, loving, and selfless. Although these are a challenge for all of us, we must seek to emulate the character of Jesus.
As the apostle Paul once wrote to a distracted church in the town of Colossae.
“Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.” - Paul (Colossians 3:2)
